Design for Integrated
Enterprise Excellence (DFIEE) Workshop
OVERVIEW
Whether involved in manufacturing, development,
or transactional processes, attendees receive
exclusive Smarter Solutions' Integrated Enterprise
Excellence (IEE) instruction in approaching and
resolving their organization’s process,
product, and IT system design issues. One week
of intimate classroom instruction provides students
with the latest techniques in going beyond the
traditional Design for Six Sigma or Design for
Lean Six Sigma (DFSS or DFLSS). This course ultimately
equips students with the customer-driven skill
set and system for their company to benefit from
the design and development of IT systems, products,
and processes. This course equips attendees with
the processes and tools to make their design processes
more efficient and effective.
MASTER
THE TOOLS
Attendees will how to use the IEE DMADV (Define,
Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify) system for both
transactional and manufacturing organizations
so that improvement is experienced in the overall
enterprise. Much of the course will involve exercises
that help students create a system to capture
the true Voice of the Customer (VOC). The course
will additionally provide tools that help the
student improve their design, optimization, and
verification processes. Application of these tools
help organizations improve their design performance
so that there is less design rework and increased
customer satisfaction. Each tool is introduced,
and then put into practice using real business
data examples. A discussion of real world applicability
concludes the exercise.

ONLY
ONE COURSE CURRICULUM
With the blending of Lean and Six Sigma along
with other improvement tools, a holistic approach
to improvement is used. These skills provide the
student with the ability to succeed in any business
segment. Why focus only on manufacturing, transactional,
or other subset of the tools, when every organization
has aspects of each type? Manufacturing organizations
have opportunities for improvement in HR, sales,
and procurement, which are transactional work,
while transactional organizations produce papers
and reports and manage inventories, which are
analogous to manufacturing processes. Every student
in the IEE system is provided with the skills
to be successful in all business areas.
TOOLBOX
REWARDS
This training is designed for students who will
be conducting Lean Six Sigma type design projects
of processes, products, or IT systems. Attendees
will focus on evaluating the organizational impact,
not just the project savings. At the end of the
course, attendees understand, comprehend, and
perform the following:
- Recognize
when an improvement effort does not meet the
organizational requirements and a new process,
product, or IT system design is the best option;
- Fully
understand the process required to gain the
voice of the customer;
- Effectively
translate customer requirements into design
requirements and to determine their impact on
manufacturability or processability;
- Select
the right tools to design and test a new process,
product, or IT project;
- Be
able to recognize and use advanced improvement
tools when beneficial.
